Ballet Kelowna’s 2017/18 Season: Celebrating 15 Years of Excellence
Featuring four world premieres and the company premiere of A Streetcar Named Desire, Ballet Kelowna’s first full-length ballet.
In celebration of Ballet Kelowna’s 15th anniversary season, the Company presents three spectacular productions at the Kelowna Community Theatre: two mixed programs – Acts of Remembrance and Elles: Extraordinary Dance Created by Women – and the full-length ballet, A Streetcar Named Desire. Plus, an add-on performance of The Nutcracker presented by The Canadian School of Ballet.
Acts of Remembrance, November 10 + 11, 2017, features a new commemorative work by Simone Orlando, a world premiere by award-winning choreographer Wen Wei Wang, and the company premiere of L’Étiquette by Joe Laughlin.
Elles, February 2, 2018, is a mixed program of dance featuring the work of four talented female choreographers. World premieres by celebrated Canadian choreographers Alysa Pires and Gioconda Barbuto, plus Folie à Cinq by Heather Myers and Glas by Gabrielle Lamb.
The season closes with the company premiere of A Streetcar Named Desire May 1 + 2, 2018, by renowned Canadian choreographer John Alleyne. Adapted from Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer Prize winning drama, Alleyne’s Streetcar combines compelling dance with superb acting, lavish costumes, and an original jazz score by BC-based composer Tobin Stokes.
Please call Kelowna Tickets to add-on The Nutcracker, December 8 – 10, 2017.
All performances take place at the Kelowna Community Theatre, 1375 Water Street.
